Analyst Referral Service
Our Analyst Referral Service assists individuals in finding a Jungian analyst or Jungian-oriented psychotherapist. This process involves an interview with our Clinical Services Director who matches the applicant and his or her needs one of the licensed psychotherapists or analysts in our referral network.
The interview includes a careful review of the applicant's goals as well as other needs (geographic location, gender preference for therapist/analyst, etc.). The fee for this service is $100.00. A well-conducted interview will enables the applicant to focus on and articulate his/her needs and for the Director to get to know the applicant well enough to be able to make a good referral. The interview is also an opportunity for the applicant to discuss his/her perceptions of Jungian psychology and to ask questions about what he/she might expect to experience in a course of Jungian psychotherapy. A listing of analysts and therapists with a Jungian orientation who are in our referral network, free of charge, to make contacts, inquiries, and/or set up interviews will be available soon.

I became engaged with Jungian thought and psychotherapy when I had my first experience with the numinous power of a dream, over 20 years ago. In the intervening years, I became a licensed clinical psychologist in 1995, and then a Diplomate Jungian Analyst in 2007. My awe for the authority of a dream to provide a glimpse into the unconscious has not waned, and I add to that my interest in fairytales and the expressive arts as means of connecting to deeper layers of one’s psyche. I work with adults in individual analysis. As well I am the Executive Director of the C. G. Jung Center in Evanston.

My focus is on clients who are relatively high functioning, but who happen to be experiencing the types of issues and challenges that commonly present themselves, particularly relationship issues, developmental (e.g., adolescent and young adult) issues, mid-life ("second half of life") issues, career and occupational issues, and issues involving meaning and purpose in life. I work with individual clients--adults and adolescents--as well as with couples and families. My therapeutic approach is best suited to clients who are highly motivated, anxious and willing to change, and committed to undertaking the difficult work of exploring their inner self. My graduate training is in pastoral counseling, which recognizes not only the psychological, but also the spiritual, dimension of human beings. I serve as adjunct faculty at Loyola University Chicago, where I both teach and counsel graduate students. In addition, I serve on the Board of the C.G. Jung Center in Evanston. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor and a certified Jungian Psychotherapist. My orientation is holistic: I work from an integrated--mind, body, spirit--perspective. My therapeutic approach, which incorporates dream analysis, recognizes the role of the unconscious and the inherent potential of each person to realize his or her authentic Self.

I became a therapist after working in the business field for 10 years and realized that my gifts and talents could benefit many more people in much more impactful ways than I could in that setting. I was in my mid-twenties when I was first introduced to Jungian-oriented therapy and found it to be a very meaningful framework in which to view my life challenges and to begin my healing work. I have continued my study and therapeutic experience of Jungian psychology for over 20 years. The qualities I bring to my work are compassion, patience, spirituality, intuition, respect, challenge, and flexibility. I work mainly with individuals and couples around many different life challenges, adapting my approach to most closely align with what provides for the greatest growth for my clients. Please see my website for more information about me and my practice. Insurance accepted: I do not participate in any insurance panels. Available out-of-network benefits would apply.

My analytic work and interests are rooted in the classical tradition of Jungian analysis, with its abiding interest in dreams and other activations of the unconscious, including work with sand trays. An Episcopal priest as well as analyst, I often work at the intersection of psychology and spirituality – although I also work with many for whom religion is not important. If there are accidents, I suppose I am an accidental Jungian. Many years ago I asked a psychologist I knew to recommend someone who could help me understand some unusual anger I was feeling. She sent me to a Jungian analyst. The anger proved minor, but the work it opened up has been the most important, transforming event of my life. I became an analyst to help others find what I was fortunate enough to find. As an analyst, I’ve not sought to specialize in particular types of clients or diagnoses. My deepest interest is in the life of the psyche, and this presents in all sorts of ways in all sorts of people. All I ask of an analysand is a commitment to understanding her or his inner life. Over the years, the themes with which I’ve most often found myself working have included: men’s and women’s issues; relationships and sexuality; grief, mourning, and loss; young adult transitions; families and individuals experiencing physical illness. I am open to working with these and any other concerns an individual, couple, or family presents. My licensure is as an LCPC. In addition to analytic training, I completed postgraduate clinical programs at the Center for Family Health (marriage and family) and the Center for Religion and Psychotherapy (self psychology). I hold degrees from the University of Maryland (B.A., summa cum laude), Catholic Theological Union (M.Div.), and Chicago Theological Seminary (D. Min. in pastoral counseling). I do not belong to insurance networks -- ask me why -- but am happy to provide you with what you will need to obtain reimbursement from your carrier.

With over thirty years of experience in providing direct clinical services, my passion has always been investigating human development over the human life span. In my work, I have sustained a vital and abiding interest in the value of crisis and suffering, as they open doors, deepen sensibilities, and add to resilience, strength, and hope (or not). As a child, I liked the fairytale about the ugly duckling. Like me, the ugly duckling was dubbed a troublemaker, destined for all sort of ills. What has always struck me to the quick, then and now, is the unfolding that led the ugly duckling to become a beautiful white swan, in truth and in fact, becoming that which he always was. Hours by appointment. Payment at time of session- I provide what you need if you choose to submit billing for your insurance reimbursement.
